Ben started this 50% cub in December 2009. The wing span will be approx. 18 foot 6 inches
He is considering doing it in US Army colours..

"Been using some different material this week......... Aluminuim

Made a start on the undercarriage, well it's actually nearly finished now.....

All fabricated from 15mm thick wall Ali tube. The thinner Ali tube you can see at the top is where the bolts will go through to attach to the fuselage brackets. Once all joins have been Tig welded, the thin tube will be cut away leaving 2-3mm each side of the uprights. I've used a long length to ensure it stays perfectly straight whilst being welded  (it makes sense to me)

One undercarriage leg.... I've fabricated 2 of these."

This is 1 of the main axles, so to speak. Again made from 15mm Ali tube. 3mm plate was used to make all brackets, all the screws you can see will be removed and filled once welded, the nuts and bolts are where the sprung part will fit.

The main support bracket where the top of the sprung part will mount too.... again 3mm plate was used. Screws will be removed later, and the thin tubes will be cut off flush with main tube once welded.

All ready to be welded up

This should give you a basic idea of what goes where..........
This is looking from the back to the front (the front is flat on the floor) and yes, these are normal tea cups and not Jacks toy ones,  Bob...........

The pencils show where the sprung part will fit, once finished it will be fully working as per the full size
